The Emery County Diebold Case. Gov. Huntsman Replies.

Thu Apr 06, 2006 at 10:11:51 AM PDT

Yesterday Emery County Clerk Bruce Funk was locked out of his office by the county commissioners. Why was this elected official told to resign, and then locked out of his offices? Because he dared to hold the state's new Diebold e-voting machines to the standards laid down in state law.

Earlier today, MSNBC reported on the compromise deal in the senate, which was reported on here at dailykos:

Christopher Blair's Diary

I sent Tom Curry of MSNBC a terse email, and got his reply to which I replied.

"He said/she said" journalism and the fall of good government.

Tue Apr 26, 2005 at 11:14:30 AM PDT

I happened to watch "The Fall of Saigon" last night on PBS. It was a re-edited version of episode 12 of "Vietnam: A Television History" the groundbreaking 13-part 1983 WGBH Boston TV documentary. I noted that the people in political power at the time were in fear of the nation's press. The Pentagon Papers were being published by Daniel Ellsberg in the NYT, WaPo, and 17 other newspapers. And of course Woodward and Bernstein were working their magic at the WaPo. The White House and Congress were genuinely afraid of the truth coming out.

The age of investigative journalism in that mold is dead. There is not one single reporter working for any national news outlet with the balls, or the editorial freedom to investigate anything. Not even the least claim. What we have now in this country is a news media corps that is entirely devoted to "He said/she said" journalism. They are not interested in facts, or truth, they are merely interested in quotes.

Breaking, Republicans screw veterans.

Ed Schultz just interviewed Sen. Patty Murray, (D-WA) who introduced an amendment to an emergency spending bill for Iraq war funding today. The amendment provided $1.9BN to provide emergency funding for Veterans health care.

Limbaugh indecent speech today?

Tue Apr 12, 2005 at 12:38:43 PM PDT

Ed Schultz is on right now, in a tirade about how Limbaugh was on the air today characterizing oral sex as a "blowjob."

What we're up against.

I don't want to sound Anti-Christian here. I am not a Christian, I believe myself to be a Deist, much like the founders. I also don't want to put down Creationism, because I believe in a Creation. However, I also believe in the theory of evolution. Joseph Farah and the forces in the religious right do not.
